Design Method

Design method:

Equipment -

-              Basketball

-              Ipad (recording)

-              Basketball hoop

-              Basketball court

-              OnForm

Method -

1.        The camera was set up on the side of the shooter

2.        Each individual shot was recorded on the OnForm app

3.        The participants shot from: directly under the hoop (1m), free throw (4.57m), mid-range   (5.66m), 3 point (6.75m)

4.        The process was repeated for each shot.

5.        Analyse the videos using OnForm calculating the angular velocity of the arm.

6.        Create a comparison between different shot ranges.

X = Different shots used in the data collection

Variables -

Independent Variable: Shooting distance (Under the ring, free throw line, mid-shot, 3-point line)

Dependent variable: Angular velocity of the shooters dominant elbow

Controlled Variables:

Basketball – A basketball stays the same to ensure it is the same size and shape each test.

Camera height – The camera needs to be positioned at the same time each test for accurate recordings of the participants shooting elbow.

Analysis points – Ensuring that the points selected on the participants body for measurement are the same for each range of shot.
